In school math came easy to me. My daughter is 6 and it seems to be easy for her also. However, once you get past a certain level of mathematics it becomes difficult for most people. Most of math comes down to a formula. There's a correct process for everything from long division to calculus. This is also the case with engineering.
My college has an entry to a major all freshman engineering students have to go through to be placed into their actual major. I just got my AP Calc AB score back from this year, a 1. On the ACT my math score was a 25. On the SAT my math section score was a 620. I feel like I made the wrong major choice because I suck too much at math.

If you learn anything in engineering through memorization, you will never become a good engineer. You will never understand why things have to be done a certain way. You will never be able to come up with solutions of your own and only ever follow the path outlined in the manual.
Most electrical engineering courses are just pure math (calculus, trig, linear algebra, numerical methods, complex variables, etc), if you are not good at math you'll have a hard time getting through. Like I said, I'm average.
